Setanta, the broadcaster, looks set to agree a deal with the SRU to cover matches involving the three Scottish professional teams.

Today's Herald reports that the Irish-based firm will secure a deal to show home matches involving Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Borders, adding to an existing arrangement with the Irish Rugby Union to show games from Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. On eof the first matches to be shown live could be Glasgow's clash with Edinburgh at Hughenden on Saturday 11 September.

Neither Setanta nor the SRU would confirm details, but Phil Anderton, the SRU's chief executive, said yesterday: "We are in discussions with a number of broadcasters about various competitions and are optimistic about the possibility of having live coverage of Celtic League matches next season.
"I cannot go into details about any negotiations until they are completed."

Fair enough. Good on Setanta for at least showing some enthusiasm for the CL. Point is where the hell is my licence fee going then for the BBC? Oh I know to the English premiership thats it...
