In today's Herald Keith Grainger, the competition's chief executive, confirmed the Saturday fixture while also saying that professional rugby couldn't continue to accommodate everyone all the time.
While he could not confirm that Setanta would broadcast the matches, it is known that the Irish company has secured rights for home matches involving Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Borders. Grainger said everybody involved in Scottish rugby should welcome regular live coverage.
"They're both going to be TV games and they will be taking place on Saturday afternoons," he said of the Edinburgh v Ulster match on September 4 and the Inter-City game to be played in Glasgow a week later.
"This is excellent news because we cannot expect to bring in serious commercial partnerships without serious TV coverage," said Grainger.
Glasgow playing several matches on Saturdays has had an unexpected effect on one BT Premiership club since it has contributed to Currie parting company with Andy Nicol, their head coach.
Andy has quit the post due to the pressure of business interests which include hospitality commitments with Glasgow.
