It's a game of one half for Gordon

Gordon Bulloch was taken off on Saturday in a bid to keep him fresh for international duty
Glasgow last night admitted Scotland chiefs ordered them to take off Gordon Bulloch in a bid to keep him fresh for international duty in the autumn.

Glasgow fans at the Greenyards on Saturday feared Gordon was injured when he failed to reappear for the second half of the 10-7 Celtic League win over Borders at Melrose. But in today's Daily Record, head coach Hugh Campbell revealed Gordon was 100 per cent fit and was being rested in an effort to keep Scotland's front-line players as fresh as possible.

It had been decided in advance the country's most-capped hooker would only be involved for 40 minutes.

Hugh said: "We are still in the early stages of what will be a long and demanding season and we have to be realistic about the physical demands on players."

Admirable!
30 games a year they reckon.
Let the youth in first, then the experienced in later to sort out identified problems...

Not the other way around.
When the youth start, it builds confidence.
When substituted they can find out why...

Meanwhile they overplay club players in meaningless back up matches on Monday nights to allow underused pros a game.Double standards in operation here

Maybe somebody can talk me through this one.
Rory Lamont is signed by Glasgow from Glasgow Hawks on a full time contract-not an apprentice contract. This means that unless he goes straight into the Glasgow team he cannot get a game, as no full time pro players can play back at their clubs only those on apprentice contracts. So to get him a game and such as Cammy Mather you have to arrange midweek matches and then get a team of club players already overplayed to make up the numbers. It like a "mad hatters tea party"

David Ferguson sums this whole sorry matter up in todays Scotsman.Sorry to keep going back to Rory Lamont-good luck to Rory but it seems bonkers in the current financial climate to pay a guy not to play rugby

I'm sure any young ambititious player would love the opportunity to show what they can do on the pitch with professional selectors spectating.
Especially at the start of the season when they're fresh...
Good Luck Lads!
