Sean the latest to escape "Fortress Scotland"

Sean Lamont will move south to play with Northampton
Today's Scotsman reports that national coach Matt Williams tried to persuade Sean Lamont to stay in Scotland.

The Glasgow winger decided to make the move south even though Northampton have had a poor season and are unlikely to qualify for the Heineken Cup.

The move further undermines the "fortress Scotland" plan devised by the national coach.

Glasgow's head coach Hugh Campbell told The Scotsman: "It is a big disappointment to lose Sean, but if his heart is set on moving then there is not much we can do.

"He has to think about the possibility that Saints will be relegated and the likelihood that they won't be figuring in next season's Heineken Cup. If he is happy at that prospect, then so be it."

I hear Matt Williams "Fortress Scotlnd" policy is only availabale with selected playing staff.

Petrie has been told he may not be playing again for Scotland if he moves South yet Sean Lamont will carry on!

Yet another "rule change" in that part-time "Fortress Scotland" policy Matt?

Great news...beat me to that one Gordon! I wonder if what I said previously had anything to do with Jon staying in Scotland.

Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors were in talks.

Hope it's true - a wee bit of good news.

I reckon JP will get quite a welcome tonight!
