He told the Sunday Mail: "The amount of flak I took is naturally going to give you a knock. I tried not to read the Press and I made my mind up to get back on track.
"I hope that what I achieved against Cardiff has enabled me to get on to the front foot and start that process. It was a big disap-pointment to be dropped for Scotland's last Six Nations match against England at Twickenham and then to only be on the bench for Glasgow on Friday.
"I just wanted to get out there and perform the way I know I can away from the glare and pressure of the Test stage."
Dan also rejected the notion he could be the next big name to leave Glasgow.
He said: "My current contract is about to end and I definitely want to stay at Glasgow. I have more to prove here than anywhere else and we are working out something at the moment.
"I am utterly determined to regain the No.10 starting berth for Glasgow and then for Scotland."
