An Eddie McLaughlin try helped Ayr to a 48-10 win over Stewart's-Melville
Glasgow Warriors' winger Eddie McLaughlin was on target for Ayr as they ran out 48-18 winners over Stewart's Melville at Millbrae today.

Currie forced champions Glasgow Hawks to produce another second-half fightback in an untidy affair at Old Anniesland.

The Malleny men had set up a possible shock by going 9-0 in front at the break, however a burst of tries by Nick Cox, Stevie Duffy and Murray Strang steadied the home nerves.

Mike Adamson made all the conversions to make sure Hawks kept their 100% record.

Ayr (20) 48 - Stewart's Melville FP (6) 18

Is this guy going to play for Glasgow at all. Though he was only on a 4 month contract and notice he's not in the HC squad. Money being thrown away??

There's still time - but not too much. It's a trial period - it would be money thrown away if we has signed someone on a 2-year contract who then didn't make the grade.

When Jahoer and Hinton dropped out, the Warriors looked to be desperately short of back 3 players, especially when Roberts was still a unknown quantity. To give the management some credit, they moved quickly to replenish the squad.

McLaughlin seems to have been marginalised by the arrival of O'Hare - who seems to have inspired a lot of confidence amongst the coaches, securing a full contract and moving straight into the playing squad - and the solid start made by Roberts.

It would be disappointing if Eddie left without ever getting a real chance to show what he could do though.

There's some chat from the Welsh that they should get O'Hare capped before we steal him!!
