And, only a minute from full time, fullback Rory Lamont limped to the sidelines having taken a knock to his leg.
As if the injuries were't frustrating enough, Glasgow lost out to Llanelli in a match from which they could have taken a lot more. Warriors head coach Hugh Campbell said to Glasgow's official website: "It's very frustrating as it's another game we could have won. We just didn't get into it in the first half and gave away far too many penalties, especially at the rucks, and we just allowed them to dictate the territory and possession.
"We played well in the second half and won it convincingly but it wasn't enough and we didn't take all of our opportunities to score. Our defence was good throughout but we let ourselves down in the first half.
"I was heartened by the way the guys dug in and stuck to their task after being under a lot of pressure.
"We never let the Scarlets run away with things and there were enough positives to suggest we can get off to a decent start when we face Bourgoin next weekend.
"It is a short turnaround but the boys will be fired up for the challenge."
Victorious coach Gareth Jenkins paid tribute to the opposition when he said: "You have got to give credit to Glasgow. They have come down here and competed and played a great brand of rugby. It was real nail-biting stuff at the end."
