Hawks scored three tries to Aberdeen's two and nearly gained the fourth try at the death which would have given them their third consecutive First Division title. Hugh campbell, Glasgow's head coach, would not release Eric Milligan to play for Hawks, although he was aware that Hawks' pack was already short of experienced regulars Begley, McFadyen and Maxton. It was not as if Milligan was doing anything else. he had the afternoon off and travelled to Aberdeen under his own steam to support his fellow Hawks. Interesting that the Glasgow head coach saw fit to help his Aussie friend Reidy, the Aberdeen coach, put a spanner in Hawks' title ambitions. Perhaps Hawks will remember his helpful attitude next time he asks to use Old Anniesland for training, a match or even just to feed his players in Alan James' canteen. He could always take his team to Rubislaw, Aberdeen, where the immigrants from Adelaide Grammar School FP would be sure to welcome him.
