The Glasgow head coach admitted: "They weren't up to much, but in the past we've played teams of a similar standard and not done as well."
The coach was particularly delighted at the first half hat-trick by Welsh wing Hefin O'Hare and the control exerted by Dan Parks, who is now showing the form that made him Scotland's no1 fly-half last season.
"Dan's really lifting it up now and getting the best out of the guys around him, which is what we asked him to do. Hefin was great. He is a good, honest lad with a great heart. He is a model professional - never misses training and is never in the physio room even when he's down to one leg."
The Italians only narrowly lost to Narbonne last week, but proved a major let-down last night, the rain and high tempo of Glasgow's thrusting attack at the start seeming to have a demoralising effect.
