The Warriors have found success notoriously hard to come by at the Sportsground over the years but the young stand-off wants to help Glasgow to a much-needed win and shine in front of the Scotland coaching delegation that will scrutinise his performance.
Ruaridh told the Evening Times: “It will be nice to be back in a Glasgow shirt tonight and that is first and foremost what is in my mind.
“Obviously it was frustrating not to get on against Wales at Murrayfield last Saturday and that has added to my hunger to play against Connacht.
“The speculation about the line-up for the Ireland game is not a surprise given the way we played against Wales.
“Obviously I know I will be assessed by the Scotland coaching staff but I am determined to blot that out and just focus on doing my best for Glasgow.
“On their own patch Connacht are as tough as any team in the Magners League and we are going to need a really big effort from everyone.
“It is always the same over there in that it is howling a gale and the rain comes in horizontally off the Atlantic and you have to really block it all out and just focus on the match.
“For me, the intensity level we produce will be the key tonight. You know Connacht will throw everything at you and we have to be prepared to match that level of commitment.”
Ruaridh returns to Glasgow colours at the end of a week when Max Evans confirmed he will depart in the summer while Graeme Morrison signed up for another two campaigns with the Warriors.
Ruaridh said: “Max has been a great player for us over the last four years and he will be a big miss but the news that G-Dog is staying put is a huge boost.
“I think that could sway a few of the other senior guys going out of contract to follow suit.
“It really underlines Graeme’s commitment to Glasgow.”
