The 19-year-old picked up his award after being crowned Glasgow Warriors ‘Young Player of the Season’ and enjoying an amazing first year as a professional. He had played only two games for the Warriors before the 2011/12 campaign began, but he established himself in the Glasgow starting XV and scored four tries, including a hat-trick against Munster at Thomond Park. He also won four caps for Scotland in the Six Nations.
The Warriors also became the inaugural winners of the ‘Rhino Collision Kings’ title after a panel of experts assessed their efficiency at the breakdown and tackling.
Three Glasgow stars, lock Tom Ryder, stand-off Duncan Weir and prop Jon Welsh had already been named in the RaboDirect PRO12 Dream Team.
Edinburgh's Dutch winger Tim Visser was named the Players' Player of the Season.
