One week ban for Tommy Seymour

Tommy Seymour will miss Glasgow's match with Ulster
Glasgow's Tommy Seymour will miss Friday's match with Ulster after he was handed a one game ban for a tackle during last Sunday's Heineken Cup opener against Northampton.

An independent disciplinary dearing upheld a citing for a dangerous 'tip' tackle on Saints wing Vasily Artemyev during the second half of the match at Franklin's Gardens.

The Judicial Officer Simon Thomas (Wales), heard evidence and submissions from the Glasgow wing who pleaded not guilty to foul play, and from Warriors Director of Rugby Gregor Townsend and the player's legal representative.

He also heard submissions from ERC Disciplinary Officer, Roger O'Connor.

The Judicial Officer decided that the offence warranted a low-end entry point of four weeks.

However, when considering the very specific circumstances of the tackle, the Judicial Officer felt that a four week suspension would be "wholly disproportionate".

Accordingly, and based on the presence of a number of mitigating factors, including Tommy's clean record, the Judicial Officer reduced the sanction to a one week suspension.
