The hooker is one of three new caps who will face the South Sea Islanders in Durban in the opening fixture of the inaugural Castle Lager Incoming Series.
Pat said in the Evening Times: "It was a massive moment for me when I got called up on the tour and to be looking to make my first start for Scotland against Samoa is a fantastic moment. Now I am determined to show what I can do.
"It is a huge honour to get your first cap but when you get that chance you want to be making the most of it.
"We know it will be brutal up front against Samoa but when you have played against the likes of Treviso, Ulster and Leinster in the PRO12, there is no way you will let that faze you.
"Given this is the first game of the Castle Series it takes on added significance and we have the chance to get a win that would give us a great platform going forward to South Africa a week-on Saturday.
"We have done plenty of analysis on Samoa and will be ready. I can't wait."
