Glasgow Warriors 21 - 12 Vodacom Bulls

United Rugby Championship match played at Scotstoun on Friday October 24th 2025 | No comments

Nathan McBeth's try gave Warriors some breathing space
Glasgow Warriors were forced to dig deep before eventually getting the better of a hard-hitting Bulls team at Scotstoun this evening.

The win takes Glasgow to the top of the URC table before the rest of the weekend fixtures, but they were made to fight all the way by the South Africans.

Glasgow's Sione Tuipulotu and Bulls wing Stravino Jacobs went over for tries in an entertaining opening quarter. Warriors had the buld of possession and territory but great defence from Bulls saw the home side go in to the changing rooms only two points up at the break.

Willie le Roux scored early in the second half to put the Bulls in front and things looked even worse for Glasgow when Kurt-Lee Arendse went over for another try for the South African side only to see it chalked off for an earlier knock-on.

Warriors made the most of the lucky break and surged back to score through a penalty try from a lineout maul and substitute Nathan McBeth - who has earlier been sin-binned - burrowed over to secure the win.

Glasgow skipper Kyle Steyn spoke about teh game to Premier Sports: "Real tough. They kept firing shots. We played a lot of good rugby in the first half and didn't get rewards for it. I was really proud of the boys that when it got tough, they stoof up and made it happen.

"Massive [to have Jack Dempsey back]. He's a big-game player for us."

Player of the match Jack Dempsey added: "It was tough, but with boys like Kyle, it makes it easier.

"When you get to my age - I'm 31 now - you learn to find form quickly."

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith told BBC Scotland: "This tournament is tough and hard. Bulls were on it tonight, they were physical and well organised.

"The try that was chalked off was a big moment, but I believe we would have continued with the plan until the end.

"As the squad get more experienced, they don't get flustered so easily.

"That's what Scotstoun does - it's good to reward them with a win.

"We've been growing and building confidence, making the players ready from a technical and physical perspective."
