Sione Tuipulotu says next week's meeting with Toulouse will be a "massive day" for Glasgow Warriors
Sione Tuipulotu says a "massive day" lies ahead for Glasgow Warriors when six-times European champions Toulouse come calling to Scotstoun next Saturday.

Warriors got their campaign underway with a 26-21 win over Sale Sharks but had to do it the hard way, recovering from 14-0 down to score four unanswered tries, before Sale set up a tense finale when Marius Louw crossed.

Franco Smith's side recovered from being 14-0 down score four unanswered tries, before Sale set up a tense finale when Marius Louw crossed. However, Warriors held out to secure a vital win in Europe.

Playing into a strong wind challenged Warriors early on, but Tuipulotu was pleased that his side adapted and found a way to win.

He told Premier Sports: "We spoke about all week about coming away to a different venue that we're not used to playing at and maybe having to win the hard way.

"The weather made us do that and I thought the tight carriers in the team, we knew those boys had to have 15 to 20 carriers for us.

"It might not have looked as pretty as what we usually play on our pitch back home, but I thought the work they did in the first 20 to 30 minutes laid the platform for us in the second 40."

Toulouse, with a squad of international stars including Scotland's Blair Kinghorn and former World Player of the Year Antoine Dupont, will present another challenge and Tuipulotu knows it will be a big day for the club on and off the pitch.

"It's a massive day for the club and it's pretty cool that a club like that, that's won this competition a lot of times, is coming to Scotstoun.

"It's nice for our fans to be able to watch those boys play as well. I think it's pretty much sold out now and I'm really looking forward to it being a great day for everyone in Glasgow."

Stafford McDowall enjoyed his own special day in Salford, marking his 100th game for Warriors with a try. The game was also an opportunity for Warriors' Scotland contingent to put the frustrations of a disappointing autumn series behind them.

Tuipulotu said: "You play with the same boys that you play in the club in international, so the same boys that I was hurting with when I was playing for Scotland when we had those results against New Zealand and Argentina, the same boys I'm out there with [for Glasgow].

"Ultimately, we want to have that feeling going back on the bus that we won. We get that feeling today, but in eight days we've got to do it against a very good team.

"It's a nice feeling to go back on the bus and share Stafford's 100th game, and we can celebrate him as a player for the club."
