In making his latest attempt to reshuffle his team's midfield to try to find some additional firepower, Kiwi Searancke, made his most outspoken attack so far on the strength of the squad he inherited.

In explaining the latest combination he has put together in his back-line, he criticised the decision to release James McLaren, the Scotland centre, from his contract without finding an suitable replacement.

"It looks to me like this is an area that we've neglected this year in our recruitment. I've watched 12 tapes of last year's games and I thought he was outstanding," Searancke observed.

"I'm looking for a midfield back," he said.

These statements may restart talk of Scotland international back Ben Hinshelwood of Worcester making a move north of the border to play his rugby at Hughenden next season.
