Rossouw interests Glasgow

Kiwi Searancke, Glasgow's head coach, is keen to talk to South African winger Pieter Rossouw as he prepares to leave London Irish.

Rossouw could be the ideal man to fill the void left by James McLaren's return to French rugby last season. He is believed to be keen to stay in the British game after reaching mutual agreement with the English club to part company with them early in the New Year. Rossouw's opportunities at London Irish have been limited because of the restrictions on overseas players. "I would certainly be interested in sitting down and talking to him particularly because I think he has a bit of midfield experience," Searancke told The Herald.

Searancke does have some scope for recruitment, but whether the money is available from Murrayfield after big-money signings like Scott Murray, Todd Blackadder and Brendan Laney at Edinburgh and Gregor Townsend, Doddie Weir and Gary Armstrong at Borders over the past year, is another matter.

There has already been some speculation in the press that Scottish international Ben Hinshelwood of Worcester may be a target for the Scottish professional sides at the end of this season.
