Warriors not up to the fight

Llanelli secured their place in the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup with a 34-8 victory over a sorry Glasgow team who look a shadow of the team that started the season with four straight wins in the Celtic League.

When Jon Steel went over for the last try of the match there were few Glasgow fans left to see it as many had left well before the end of a game that Llanelli dominated from start to finish.

If there were thoughts of Glasgow being able to relax and produce some good rugby in a game with nothing at stake for them, they vanished early in the first half as Llanelli seemed able to breach the Glasgow line at will.

Tries from Davies, Madden, Jones and two by Evans gave Llanelli a 29-3 lead at half-time with Evans completing his hat-trick of tries ten minutes into the second half. Glasgow now look like a team completely bereft of confidence and belief in what they are doing and players were arguing among themselves during the game.
Areas of traditional Glasgow strength such as the line-out were a shambles and the scrum spent most of the night going backwards.

There was some discussion before the game that Glasgow players soon to be out of contract were effectively playing for their future. On this display few of these players should be surprised if they are seeking employment elsewhere next season.
