Several clubs, including English and European champions Leicester are believed to have registered interest in recruiting the 23-year-old who was among Scotland's brightest performers on tour in North America last summer.
Kerr admitted: "There have been a few clubs interested because I haven't been getting games, and Newcastle is a strong possibility, but I haven't signed anything yet," he said.
"I really just want to play rugby. I have played for Glasgow at every age group, it is my club and I would never want to sign for any other Scottish province. However, moving down south could be a fantastic opportunity."
Opportunities have been few and far between for Kerr since Glasgow's new coaching regime moved in; his performance as a substitute last Friday providing a breath of fresh air for hard pressed team-mates and supporters.
David Jordan, Glasgow's chief executive, admitted in The Herald that there could be sweeping changes at Hughenden. "Around two thirds of our players are coming off contract," he said.
"I don't want to release any player without similar quality or better coming in. Some may be coming to the end of their careers and in other cases we will have to see what they are looking for and whether we can match it as well as considering who else is available in the market."
Jordan went on to express an interest in bringing Andy Craig of Orrell to Glasgow but only if he was available. Craig is contracted to Orrell for a further year, however with the Lancashire club trailing in the English first division promotion race, Glasgow look favourites to sign the 28-year-old should he become available.
That being the case, he continued, while Craig is not currently available, Glasgow would be keen to sign him if he became so. "He has stated publicly that he would like to play in Scotland and if he was coming here he would definitely be a target for us," said Jordan. "However, we are not going to induce anyone to try to get out of existing contracts."
