Macfadyen is one of the potential successors to Budge Pountney who quit Test rugby last week. But now he faces a long spell on the sidelines with the Six Nations just a fortnight away when the Scots take on Ireland at Murrayfield.
Meanwhile, former Warrior Jon Stuart - who was outstanding on Friday - told the Sunday Mail that he found it hard to believe how shaky his old team were, especially on their own turf. The centre said: "We've now played three games against Glasgow and I honestly feel they have been the most physical matches we've had all season. But they are obviously struggling badly in the confidence stakes. However, I have no qualms about beating them. They are low on morale and I have been there. They are playing a completely different style of game from when I was there."
Another ex-Warrior now starring for Borders is lock Colin Stewart who had a great game alongside Doddie Weir in the second row. He reckons Glasgow's nomadic training methods could be counting against them at crucial times. Stewart said: "They train at all sorts of different places but are trying to sort that out. The set- up in the Borders where we have everything in one place is great.
