Glasgow team to face Bath

Jack Oliver and Cameron van Wyk start for Glasgow
A Glasgow Warriors squad featuring some of Scottish rugby's brightest young prospects will run out at The Rec tomorrow afternoon, as Franco Smith's men take on English champions Bath in their opening pre-season encounter (ko 3.00pm).

Euan Ferrie captains the group taking to the first time ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with 13 of the starting XV having featured for Glasgow Warriors A across the course of last season.

Grant Stewart is the most experienced member of the starting lineup, the hooker packing down between Fin Richardson - who made his senior Scotland debut against Samoa this summer - and Jake Shearer in the front-row.

Ryan Burke and Jare Oguntibeju are paired together in the engine room, having combined to strong effect in Glasgow Warriors U23's win over Benetton U23 back in May.

Macenzzie Duncan and Joe Roberts line up on the flanks, as captain Ferrie starts at number eight.

Behind the scrum, Jack Oliver and Matthew Urwin combine in the half-backs, both men having featured prominently against Benetton U23 and Black Lion earlier this year.

Kerr Yule and Kerr Johnston form the midfield partnership, the latter having made his Glasgow Warriors debut away to the Dragons back in February.

Fergus Watson starts at full-back after an impressive World Rugby U20 Championship with Scotland U20 this summer, with Ben Salmon and Cameron van Wyk lining up on the wings.

Experience is provided amongst the replacements bench by four international forwards, as Scotland trio Rory Sutherland, Nathan McBeth and Max Williamson are joined by Australian cap Sam Talakai.

Seb Stephen, Gregor Hiddleston and Angus Fraser all provide cover at hooker, the latter two also capable of slotting into the back-row if required.

Dylan Cockburn is set for a first run-out in Glasgow Warriors colours after joining the club's senior academy this summer, as Dan Halkon joins his Scotland U20 colleague to complete the cohort of forward replacements.

Fellow Scotland U20 standout Johnny Ventisei is amongst the options available behind the scrum, whilst Brent Jackson is another academy prospect awaiting his opportunity from the replacements.

Senior squad regulars Josh McKay, Ollie Smith and Ben Afshar provide their experience amongst the replacements, with summer arrival Dan Lancaster set to pull on a Glasgow Warriors jersey for the first time as preparations continue for the new season.

Speaking ahead of the match, Head Coach Smith told glasgowwarriors.org: "We look forward to getting our pre-season campaign underway in Bath tomorrow - the players have worked hard over the summer and have been training well as we continue to build towards the new season.

"Tomorrow is an important opportunity for us to further bring some of our young talents into our environment, and provide them with an opportunity to show what they can do in a Glasgow jersey.

"We look forward to the challenge Bath will bring, and to further enhancing our preparations for the new season."
