Andy Nicol looks set to become coach of Premiership Division Two Murrayfield Wanderers.

The Glasgow Warriors captain recently announced his retirement after a highly successful playing career and Murrayfield Wanderers now seem likely to benefit from the vast experience he has acquired. The present coach at Murrayfield, Peter Wright, is reported to be taking over at Currie next season and the acquisition of Andy Nicol to replace him will be seen as a major coup.

Andy indicated his desire to pass on his knowledge to younger players as he announced his retirement. "I've been fortunate to work with some of the best coaches in the world, and if I just walked away with that knowledge it would be a shame. So, yes, I want to impart some of that to younger players, but I have nothing set up, I'm open to offers as it were. I've got an open mind at the moment. I'd rather find my feet at club level than anything higher up."
