A report in The Scotsman claims that lock/flanker Rory McKay, scrum-half Kenny Sinclair, stand-off Barry Irving and centre Ian McInroy will not be offered new contracts at the end of this season.
It is also believed Australian international prop Cameron Blades will head back Down Under. Sinclair and McKay joined Glasgow this season, but have had little chance to impress. Sinclair has only played in one pre-season friendly despite showing great form for Glasgow Hawks this season while McKay has featured as a replacement for the Warriors but has been influential for Aberdeen GSFP.
Barry Irving has suffered from a number of injury problems that have restricted his availability, while McInroy has only featured in Glasgow's recent Pro Cup games. Injury has also restricted the availability of Cameron Blades for much of the season and the Glasgow coaches had indicated they were looking for a new prop.
Sinclair in particular must be bemused by his release as he had commented recently that the Glasgow coaches had never actually seen him play this season. With the retirement of Andy Nicol it looked likely Sinclair would have more opportunities next season, but his release has denied him his chance to impress.
The Scotsman also reported that Sean Lineen had been approached by Glasgow over the possibility of joining them as backs coach next season although a Glasgow spokesman refused to comment on the move.
