"In my last discussions with Ian, he said I should stick to the back row over the next six months because there are opportunities there," said Reid. "That is the best option for me because, in terms of enjoyment, I prefer playing there. Having had just three weeks back in the back row after a quiet season, I didn't expect to be in the national squad at this stage," he admitted.
Like many of Glasgow's squad, Reid has not agreed terms for next season, but he is now more enthusiastic about a future in Scotland. "Local people who understand the Scottish scene are in charge and, while I'm still in negotiations, I would like to stay," he said.
"It has been quite a turn-around," said Reid. "When Kiwi was here, the discussions we had weren't going my way. I wasn't first choice as a winger and they hadn't seen me play in the back row so, while they would keep me on, I wouldn't be a first-choice player. I was looking other places but now things have changed."
Ian McInroy has left Glasgow and returned to play with West Of Scotland.
