Gordon Bulloch, Jon Petrie, Glenn Metcalfe and Andy Henderson have been included in the Scotland squad for the tour of South Africa 29 May-15 June and for the match against the Barbarians at Murrayfield on Wednesday 28 May (ko 7.00pm).

Andy Henderson returns to the full squad after some impressive displays for the A team. Henderson said: "I'm very pleased to be back in the Scotland squad. It was good to be involved with the A team during the season and I was just determined to be challenging for a place with the national team."

Roland Reid misses out on selection but Scotland coach Ian McGeechan claims the player is still in the frame for a place in the World Cup squad for South Africa. McGeechan said: "Roland is just getting back to full fitness and form. Everyone knows I like the pace and size he offers but he's been very unfortunate with injuries and lack of games.

"He's still very much in the frame and we'll continue to look at him over the summer. At the moment he's involved in the Sevens so we can keep up with his progress through that. He's a definite consideration ahead of the world cup given the heat and hard surfaces we'll play on.

"I'm personally disappointed that he's not been able to develop as a winger. I was hoping he would get further in that role as he posed a huge threat as a powerful runner out wide but as long as he’s now getting games and running with the Sevens, that will progress him quickly and it's helping him work on his one on one play, which will of course help him in 15-a-side."
