"How we are playing the game, passing before contact, is the best I've ever played with Scotland. It would have felt better than 1999 if we had won the game, but we have broken it down, looked at some of the phases we put together and it was brilliant rugby. We had them in all sorts of strife."
"Our strategy and the structure have always been spot on, but we have not always been implementing it on the field," Metcalfe said. "We're now holding the ball through more than three or four phases. Playing the ball out of contact is as good as it has been for a long time."
"Defensively, watching from the back was the best seat in the house, driving up and knocking them down up front. It was fantastic, so we are not going to come out any softer. They are still going to get hit hard," he said.
