Supporters deserve an apology - Cammy Mather

Cammy Mather thinks the Scotland fans deserve an apology after the heavy defeat to France
Cammy Mather has apologised to Scotland's supporters following their Telstra Stadium horror show.

Cammy was one of few members of Ian McGeechan's squad to leave Homebush with their heads held high yesterday after Scotland were swept away by France.

"There are people who have travelled halfway round the world to support us, and we have let them down," said the Glasgow captain, who has been with the squad for less than a week after flying out to replace Andrew Mower.

"You don't get a bigger stage than the one we had yesterday, and to lose by the number of points we did and in the manner we did was pretty disappointing. The supporters deserve an apology."

I received the following message from some Glasgow fans who are following Scotland down under. Sounds like they are having a good time - just a pity about the rugby.

"Apart from the match, we had a great day. Sydney was full of kilts & Scotland shirts. Seven Glasgow supporters on tour. Atmosphere was very special. The Olympic stadium is something else - makes Murrayfield look like a concrete jungle. Carpets on walkways and escalators to the upperfloors. We were on level 4 in the front row. Draped our flags (including the Glasgow flag) over the balcony but the oz branch of Hughenden Rock Steady made us remove them because they were covering up non existent adverts! The Drowning of Sorrows Party lasted until 5.30am with Glasgow supporters much in evidence due to their experience in these events. Having BBQ with Scotland team tonight - bet they are looking forward to it."
