Campbell wants JP to send a message

Jon Petrie captains Glasgow at Neath/Swansea Ospreys tonight
Glasgow coach Hugh Campbell wants Jon Petrie to send out a message to Scotland's selectors.

Jon was one of the established players missing from the Scotland squad for the opening Six Nations match with Wales in Cardiff. He captains Glasgow against Neath/Swansea Ospreys at The Gnoll tonight (7.15pm).

"It is unfortunate for Jon," said Campbell. "His display in last month's Parker Pen Cup victory over Saracens was one of the best performances I have seen from him. I expect he will want to get a message across to the Scotland's national selectors."

I may be biased but I wonder who or what is the source of their feedback about the Glasgow team. There seems to be antipodean link to the selection process that favours Edinburgh and the Borders.(Williams / Blackadder / Gilbert). (Lineen?). I just notice that the admirable mentor system being initiated (Messrs Calder, Tukalo et al) has no obvious Glasgow connection. Does Matt Williams have the Glasgow players stats to hand, ie tackle counts, ball carrying distance, sprint times etc? So who or what IS Glasgow in "Fortress Scotland" and HOW does JP send a message...

I must admit I had similar thoughts when I heard about this. John Beattie spoke to Matt Williams on Radio Scotland this morning and the new coach mentioned in passing that he had spoken to John about the team mentors. Not sure if that means John will be a part of it or not.
