Alan will edge in front of Tommy Hayes as the player to have made the most number of appearances when he takes part in his 122nd game when Glasgow take on Connacht in Galway tomorrow.
Alan explained: "It will count for nothing if we don't win against Connacht. After a great result over league leaders Ulster last week I am only focused on getting a victory. We are currently bottom of the table just behind Edinburgh and the Borders. But I believe that is a misleading position and that Glasgow can give any team a good game.
"The sides playing in the Heineken Cup this season are decided by league position alone and if we can get a few wins we can overtake our Scottish rivals."
He added: "It is great going to England, France and Italy to play their top sides. As a professional, it is where you want to be. If you do well in these places then it is where you get spotted and it certainly helps your chances of getting into the national set-up."
Alan has scored three tries in his last two games and he reckons getting a regular run in the side, with fellow centre Andy Henderson away on Scotland duty, has helped his own game. He stated: "I haven't really played consistently in the side since Christmas and so it has helped me getting into the team every week.
"We have an exciting back division now and it is nice to be a part of. I think Glenn Metcalfe retiring from international rugby has helped his game a lot. He has been picking the ball up at full back and running at teams from deep and is a major reason why we have been doing well recently.
"Although we're bottom of the league we have had some good results and believe we can beat any side in this league. Last week proved that. We are due some wins. If we can perform for 80 minutes then we can upset a few teams and move up the division."
