Gordon Hood is Bachelor of the Year
In a glittering ceremony in London last night, Glasgow Marketing Manager, Gordon Hood, beat off the competition to scoop Company magazine's Bachelor of the Year competition.

Up against a host of stars from stage and screen, Gordon battled through to win the title and a week for two in New York.

Speaking exclusively to glasgowwarriors.com from the airport, Gordon said: "Obviously I'm thrilled. The highlight had to be when Tara Palmer Tomkinson tried to look under my kilt.

"My phone hasn't stopped ringing all morning with people saying 'congratulations', 'well done' and 'what you - no way, you're joking?'

"My feet haven't hit the ground since the award. It's been interview with breakfast TV and radio and newspapers.

"I don't know what the future holds - perhaps an appearance on 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here?'"

Rumours have already emerged that Gordon is to join Simon Taylor in advertising quality Scottish produce.

Gordon said: "Simon has cornered one part of the market, but there may be openings for me as well. Who knows 'Gordi Hood, 100% pure Scottish mince' could work."

Gordon will now get away from the media spotlight in a secret location in the Western Isles.

Watch out for our exclusive interview and photoshoot with Gordon.

An autographed photo too. Could be worth quite a bit of money someday to the lucky person that owns it.

Well done Mr Hood, Is he the Editor as well as Marketing Manager? What I would like to know is, did Tara succeed in checking if anything was worn under his kilt ; and if she did did she comment? He's not old enough for it to be worn!

Two different Gordons, Seoras. Probably much to Mrs Editors regret.

Thanks Gordon and Ben. I received the messages.

I see what you mean and the cause of the demand!

I was waiting in line at a Teuchter school when I was eleven and wearing a kilt. Elsie MacRae who was fourteen passed-by, going to a senior class, when she flicked my kilt up! Bloody hell, I was wearing my sister's knickers as decided by my mother; to my total embarrassment.

Mothers don't understand, do they!

I've never worn a kilt since then, so it seems I've missed out somewhat!

Sore arse Alasdair Niclaumann seems to have problems

Yep, Fergie you are right.

It's useless as a battle dress. When it's wet and heavy it causes sores and hacks on the calves. When its dry it becomes lice infested in combat conditions. When a soldier is shot or blown up it's obscene with the casuality's body exposed to the elements. Trousers give slightly better protection for the Gaelic Warrior

The kilt is good for weddings, dances and parties; but not for the modern fighting men, so watch it Tinkerbelle!

I remember your wedding photos with your hand on your hip. very sweet with your left slightly bent and your long black curls setting off your Lamont tartan.

It suited you as out of the four you were the prettiest!

Fergie,

As you well know in Gaelic, Seoras is pronounced as Shore-us. An Anglo-phonic lady friend of mine had a similar problem to you with her Erse. Stick with it, Fergie and your impediment is sure to get better.

Your feeble attempt at humour by using the femine gender of the patronymic is pathetic and demonstrates a poor knowledge of grammar.

Hey,

It appears that that I've upset some Limeys by the use of the word 'Erse' above

Check your dictionary you'll find that it is the Lowland Scots word for the 'Gaelic Language', hence the capital 'E' (Noun and adjective!)

I apologise for offending your English sensibilities.

I note on the Glasgow Rugby Home page Bill MucMurtrie's comment on future Highland attire.

It follows on from the Scottish 'Prime Minister' celebrating the Scottish Indepenence Day anniversary of 06:04:1320 in New York and his fashion statement!

Jackie was dressed in a pin-stiped mini-skirt on top of a granny nightie much to the disgust of Sean and the astonished amusement of a New Yorker passer-by!

One daren't ask about underwear. Probably George IV lent his! Not only that but 'Virgin' Branson was photographed leaning against a 'Scotsman' with his kilt erse-aboot-tit and around his ankles.

Thank Glasgow Rugby for Tara and Gordon but particularly Tara! in the face of these social disasters.
