Glasgow boys help Scotland to first tour victory

Dan Parks kicked 18 points for Scotland against NSW Country
Tries from Glasgow's Graeme Beveridge, Paul Dearlove and Andy Hall, plus a perfect kicking display from Dan Parks helped take Scotland to a 48-10 victory over NSW Country today.

After seven months in charge and seven successive defeats, Matt Williams was finally celebrating a victory as Scotland coach after his development squad ran six tries in their victory.

"Dan kicked brilliantly," said Williams. "It's what you want - the young guys that don't get selected, they come back and challenge.

"I thought Dan had a very good game today.

"I thought Graeme Morrison, who is only just 21, had a very positive game. There were a lot of good performances.

Skipper-for-the-night Jon Petrie admitted the win came at a vital time for the tourists.

"It doesn't matter whether it is a midweek victory or a Saturday victory, it was very important to get the tour back on track," said Jon.

"Before tonight it was seven games without a win for Scotland, so it was good to get that started again and hopefully it will be a lift for the Test on Friday night.

"It is more of a relief because last week against Queensland we didn't do ourselves justice. As Matt says, this is a development side and we have certainly developed from last week."
