"There are different motivations for different people," said Jon in today's Herald. "For a lot it will be the last chance to prove yourself for next season. For others, it's the last chance to get in the Test 22. Everyone's working towards the same thing, trying to put in a good performance.
"The past week has been good because both sides won in the space of a week so trying to keep that going is important ahead of the Australia Tests," he said. "It's been said this is a development tour and I'd like to think that, come the end of Tuesday night, we'll have seen a lot of guys from the first half against Queensland Reds grow in the blue jersey.
"I remember when I first came on tour it was quite an intimidating environment to come into, and there are guys who, before we came out, weren't saying a word in sessions because they were new into it.
"So it is nice to see guys become senior players in the midweek side and try to develop themselves as people and as players."
