Stuart wants to grab Scotland lifeline

In today's Herald Moffat">Stuart Moffat talks about his surprise at his recall to the Scotland squad after fearing his professional career was over after he'd been deemed surplus to requirements at Glasgow.

The 26-year-old full back was put on the dole by the SRU when Glasgow withdrew their contract offer late on.

"It's been a bizarre couple of weeks," said Stuart. "It was a very unexpected call on Monday, but I'm delighted to be here. This is a lifeline. I'll take the chance if it comes, but I've no idea what capacity I'll be involved in."

"I'm not going to go into my contract situation, but it's not been handled terribly well," he said. "I've been left with few options in terms of other clubs, unless I was to go overseas.

"If I'm not going to be contracted to play rugby in Scotland, I'd have to question why I'm playing professional rugby. If I'm just playing for the sake of playing rugby as a career, then I'd look elsewhere and look to start a proper job.

"Because it's been left so late, I've not had enough time to think my options through. I didn't have anything solid from France, but my agent was looking hard around France. Because I'd been made an offer by Glasgow and I'd accepted it, my agent stopped looking."
