"It's a fantastic opportunity for the students to play on the big stage, hopefully in front of a good crowd," said Graham Kilgour, the SRU's university co-ordinator. "Also, I hope the supporters of both teams will be an advantage to Glasgow in their game against Munster."
David Jordan, Glasgow Warriors's chief executive, was equally enthusiastic. "Universities have a valuable role in Scottish rugby, on and off the pitch," he said. "We are therefore pleased to give the Glasgow and Strathclyde students this opportunity to play on a high-profile platform before one of our key Celtic League games."
Glasgow University and Strathclyde will have a 5.00 kick-off. The Celtic League match will follow at 7.30.
Glasgow Warriors have already done much to attract students to Saturday's double-header as well as the Celtic League match against Ulster a week later, also at Hughenden. Last week 5000 free tickets for those two games were handed out to Glasgow, Strathclyde, Caledonian, and Paisley universities' freshers.
