In a piece in today's Scotland on Sunday, Gordon identifies two Glasgow teammates who he thinks have made big strides on the international scene.
"There are good reasons for optimism. The patterns that Matt Williams has introduced have had a year to bed in, and the players maybe understand them better now than we did on tour or in the most recent Six Nations. We have also experienced six or seven intensive squad sessions over the past couple of months, and these have been used wisely.
"We also have players who have grown into their positions. Open side, for example, had been a problem position, but Donnie Macfadyen has made it his own, and he continues to be ferociously competitive at the breakdown, which was one of the reasons why we were able to go through the phases when we had the ball against Australia, and definitely was a factor in slowing down their ball.
"Dan Parks has also come on to a game, and has the ability to run a game like a real general from stand-off. In his first season as a pro, he has devoted a lot of time to the weights and on things like his standing start, and has made an increasing number of breaks of late. I can also confirm that he was spotted putting in a couple of tackles last week: that's not something I always expected to be able to write."
