Scott's former clubs are rewarded

Scott Lawson's former clubs have received paymenst from the SRU's Player Reward Scheme
Scott Lawson's previous clubs, Biggar and Melrose have been rewarded for their part in the Glasgow hooker's development and move into the professional ranks.

Biggar will receive £4474 and Melrose £526 from the SRU's Player Reward Scheme.

A formula has been drawn up to reflect the involvement of clubs and schools in a player's development. Only the domestic (Scottish) nurturing is eligible for a share of the maximum amount.

The Celtic League website has published a full list of payments:

Iain Berthinussen (The Borders) - Langlee Primary School - £500; Gala Minis - £500; Galashiels Academy - £1250; Gala Red Triangle - £750; Gala Wanderers - £500; Gala - £1500.

Kelly Brown (The Borders) - Earlston High School - £1389; Melrose - £3611.

David Callam (Edinburgh Rugby) - Edinburgh Accies - £769; Hawick - £1538.

Andy Miller (The Borders) - Gala Minis - £377; Gala Red Triangle - £849; Gala Wanderers - £755; Gala - £3019.

Scott Lawson (Glasgow Warriors) - Biggar - £4474; Melrose - £526.

Fergus Pringle (Edinburgh Rugby) - Hawick - £1111.

Alasdair Strokosch (Edinburgh Rugby) - East Kilbride - £3603; Boroughmuir - £1176.

Johnny Weston (The Borders) - Melrose - £1111

In the climate of the professional era this is a prime example of how we cannot let the club game nor the grass-roots area of Scottish rugby die off!
