Scottish professional rugby players won't be taking strike action in protest over the ousting of David Mackay.

Today's Scotsman reports that senior players from the three pro teams met soon after the SRU's executive board chairman resigned. With feelings were running high amongst the players strike action was considered, but has now been ruled out.

Kenny Logan, the Glasgow winger, confirmed to The Scotsman: "The idea seemed to spook some players, particularly a few of the Edinburgh ones. Lots of younger guys have mortgages to pay and families to consider, while the Edinburgh lads maybe feel constricted by the fact that they literally live in the shadows of Murrayfield."

Kenny added: "The general feeling is still one of amazement and anger over the actions of the general committee which led to the departure of David and Phil. They were men who were busting a gut to drive the game forward in Scotland and now no-one really knows what will happen."
