Nathan didn't want to uproot his wife from Glasgow as he has only signed until the end of the season.
But his pain at being apart from her has been reduced as Exeter City FC's main sponsors, flybe, offered to fly him home and back every week for free.
Nathan will fly to Scotland to see his wife after each weekend game and will return to Exeter every Tuesday for training.
He will chalk up more than 8,100 miles over the last nine weeks of the season as he attempts to help the Chiefs reach the Premiership.
Nathan told the Exeter Express & Echo: "My wife is 12 weeks pregnant and I felt I could not move her down here until I know whether I am going to be here for the longer-term.
"She is at a pretty important stage and I did not want her to have to go through the upheaval of moving if it was just going to be for a few months.
"flybe have been really good to me by stepping in like this and I am very grateful to them."
Nathan has also been helped out with living accommodation as fellow Australian Graydon Staniforth and his wife have put him up in their spare room.
Now he is keen to get involved with the first team as soon as possible, and would like to get a chance against Otley this weekend.
"When I get a chance I will make sure I take it, and the sooner that is the better it will be for me," he said.
"I have joined to be involved with the first team and I'm looking forward to that.
"I've heard Otley have got some big forwards but we have prepared for that and it should be a good contest."
Chiefs' commercial director Mike Churcher was delighted that the club could work so closely with flybe.
"flybe are one of Exeter's largest businesses and support us with our half-time raffle," he said.
"Ian Bremner had the opportunity to sign Nathan and it is beneficial that we can grow together."
Simon Lilley, head of marketing at flybe, said they were happy to help out.
They looked forward to further involvement if the club gets promoted at the end of the season.
He said: "flybe were delighted to be able assist when the call came from the Chiefs.
"We are extremely active in the community, very visibly with the football club, so it's nice to be able to also offer some support to the rugby team during such a successful season.
"We would like to think that by flying Nathan down for the next few games of the season, flybe are playing a small part in helping Exeter into the top flight.
"With regular daily flights now from Exeter across the UK and Europe, we look forward next season to flying the Chiefs in the Premiership and European Cup competitions."
