U21s set the standard

Scotland U21s set the standard for their senior squad with a superb 19-17 victory over their English counterparts at Franklin's Gardens last night.

Glasgow district players were to the fore, with Sky TV's commentators voting Glasgow Hawks' Scott Forrest as the man of the match. Glasgow's John Beattie got into the action in the second half while A J McFarlane (GHA) and Steven Manning (Ayr) - both of whom have been on duty for Glasgow's pro-team this season - played their part in a famous victory.

Really gutsy display.Forwards impressive but while the backs defended well there is still no sign of any incision. Cannot remember one line break. While he was on Nash at full back was excellent. What a turnaround from the World Cup last June.
