The man heading that group said they do not want to go public with their full plans but told The Herald yesterday that they have lodged firm proposals.
"We put those into the SRU three weeks ago and have yet to receive a reply," he said. "We have not specified a venue and would be willing to consider taking on any of the three existing sides but want to look at where we could take them to optimise the commerciality."
He said that, ideally, they would like to become involved by the start of next season but that may not be realistic. Responding to that, Mike Keohane, the SRU'S corporate affairs director, agreed that a more realistic timescale for any negotiations would be around six months.
It would take that long to agree details of how much control would be released to private investors and what the level of the SRU's financial input might be.
