Beattie and Eddie in U21 squad

John Beattie is in Scotland's U21 squad
Glasgow's John Beattie is in the Scotland squad preparing for the IRB Under 21 World Championship in Mendoza, Argentina.

Under-21 coach Iain Paxton also named Glasgow apprentice James Eddie in the squad.

The Scots have been seeded ninth for the tournament and will face Australia, Wales and Canada in the pool stages.

The competition will take place in Mendoza, Argentina, from 9-25 June and comprises all members of the Six Nations, the three Southern Hemisphere heavyweights, hosts Argentina, and Samoa and Canada. Before the players and six-strong management team depart, they will spend a weekend with the Royal Marines at the Condor base near Arbroath to hone both physical and teamwork skills.

How do we prevent burn out of our best young players??

Don't send them to age-group world championships every summer (but they all want to go) ... and don't let the pro teams' medics near them!
