Sean is convinced the Scots are well on track to recovery in the wake of the success against the Barbarians at Pittodrie last week.
Sean - who will soon switch from Glasgow to Northampton Saints - also believes the appointment of Warriors mate Jonny Petrie was an inspired choice by caretaker coach Frank Hadden.
Sean said in the Daily Record: "The atmosphere among the guys is so much happier - on and off the pitch. It was unbelievable how relaxed everyone was up at Aberdeen and that shone through in the performance.
"In terms of the captaincy, I have always had tremendous regard for JP as a player and he underlined his leadership credentials throughout the season with Glasgow.
"The Glasgow guys had every confidence in him and I think that now goes for the rest of the Scotland squad. He made sure we stayed focused against the Baa-Baas. There was always a chance we would ease off after two or three tries but Jonny prevented that happening.
"We kept piling on pressure with superb tackling and didn't let the Barbarians get into any sort of pattern and that is what we must strive to achieve against Romania.
"Our defence was better than I'd seen it for months and few challenges were missed. We are now using the type of defence strategy that suits us, unlike the more strung-out rugby league-style of marking, and this certainly adds to the confidence factor.2
On a personal nore Sean can't wait to add to his tally of caps.
He added: "It has been a funny old year. Twelve months ago I had no caps - now I have 12 or 13. It's just awesome."
