Vote of confidence for Dan

Dan Parks will start for Scotland against Romania
Dan Parks received a big vote of confidence from Frank Hadden when the stand-off was given the chance to start against Romania on Sunday.

Gordon Ross's broken hand gives Dan a chance to relaunch his international career after a disappointing Six Nations Championship.

In today's Times, Lewis Stuart claims it says much about Dan's determination that he went back to Glasgow and set about rebuilding his confidence, turning in some inspiring performances for the club to win back his international place.

"I was happy with the way I played last week when I came on," he said in The Times. "I thought I did a couple of good things. It was a disappointing Six Nations but now I am looking to put that behind me."

"Hugh Campbell and Sean Lineen [Glasgow's coaches] have built my confidence up again and Frank's philosophy has also helped, telling us to accept that mistakes will happen, but it is how we react to them that matters," said Dan in today's Herald.

"There were some great reactions in the changing room after last week's win and that's what we have to keep working on, everyone enjoying themselves the way we did against the Barbarians."

Dan also gave a vote of confidence to Frank Hadden for whom this may be the last game as interim head coach. Another good performance on Sunday would make it difficult for the SRU to appoint anybody else. "He has done a thoroughly good job," Dan saidin The Times. "It is early days but it has been good fun so far. I hope he can take us forward."

The new executive of the SRU is not expected to make an appointment until next month at the earliest.

Good for Parksy. He had a tough time during the 6 Nations, but didn't throw the towel in. He had a lot of critics on his back. It's the measure of the man that he's persisted, and been rewarded. Although born in Australia, he's got Scottish blood in him, and wants nothing else than to see the Scots on top again.
