He's joined by fellow Scotland U21 colleague AJ McFarlane after both players joined up at Millbrae from GHA.
AJ played for Glasgow against Rotherham last Saturday and James joined him in the Warriors squad on Monday night against Edinburgh.
Ayr coach Craig Redpath was delighted to have both players in his squad and said "We expect everybody to be available despite a couple of bumps and bruises. It is great that we have AJ and James in the squad since I am certain that they have a lot to contribute to the side."
"We are waiting to see if Glasgow select Eddie McLaughlin in their squad for Newcastle on Saturday and if he is not making the trip he will be turning out for us at Millbrae."
