JP skippered Scotland to victories over the Barbarians and Romania as the Edinburgh coach took on a stint as caretaker boss after the departure of Matt Williams. JP said in the Daily Record: "I am sure I speak for the whole of the national squad when I say we thoroughly welcome this news.
"The important thing is it gives a strong element of stability to the international set-up, particularly in light of the fact he will be in the job until after the World Cup."
The appointment has already led to discussion on Hadden's likely replacement as head coach at Edinburgh, with Glasgow's backs coach, Sean Lineen, thought to be among the front runners.
