It's good to be back

Euan is glad to be back
Euan Murray, the player who could be the answer to Scotland's front row concerns, is back in the international fold and hoping to put the drama of a few weeks ago behind him.

Euan hasn't had his problems to seek recently, missing a lot of last season for Glasgow with injuries and a ban. He then missed out on Scotland's tour to Australia summer with a shoulder injury, was out again with a damaged thigh at the start of the season and then, on his comeback, came the drama of three weeks ago when Euan sustained concussion. Even his return from that was delayed, a bout of tonsillitis laying him low for a week.

"It's good to be back involved," he said in today's edition of The Times. "This was my first full training session back, I did a little work last week but this has been my first real contact. It went OK. I took the second session a bit easy though, you don't want to do to much too soon."

"It was a question of getting used to it all again, but it felt fine," said Euan. "It was still in my mind to be just a bit wary, not to rush it, because the injury had been serious and there had been aftereffects. I was feeling sluggish for about a week and then I got tonsillitis, which complicated things because I was not sure if the way I was feeling was the illness or still my head."

Euan looks set to play a crucial part of Scotland's plans, and if he can prove his fitness in the next month, a second cap, to follow the one that he earned against Romania in the summer, is almost certainly on its way.

"It is important that when I do go in to a game that I feel comfortable about it," he said. "I want to get back to playing, but I have to tell myself to leave it a bit, not to go too crazy. I'll see how it goes but I may be back this weekend."
