With Edinburgh in the driving seat to claim Scotland's top seeding for next season's premier European tournament, the Warriors and the Reivers are currently in the mid-table scrambling zone.
But the victors at Netherdale will go into the New Year with a major boost in confidence ahead of the duel to decide who will fill the other Heineken Cup slot.
Scott said in the Daily Record: "This game will go a long way towards determining which event each team will be involved in next term, so we will be treating the trip like a major European tie.
"We did pretty well against Bath earlier in the month down at the Rec but lost narrowly, then lapsed a bit when they beat us at Firhill.
"What we must do is rediscover the level of intensity we had in the first Bath game and in the Celtic League win against Edinburgh when we moved to Firhill from Hughenden.
"Borders are a much improved outfit and we will need to reach that level to have a decent chance of beating them."
