Glasgow say nothing has been settled on Paul Dearlove's move to Pau
Glasgow yesterday denied that utility forward Paul Dearlove had moved to struggling French side Pau, who claimed that the lineout specialist had signed a contract with them until the end of the season with the option of an extension.

It is believed that Paul, who has just recovered from a head injury, has asked for an early release from his Warriors contract, which is due to run until May.

However, a Glasgow spokesman insisted in The Scotsman: "Nothing has been settled. The situation is likely to become more clear later in the week."

He "had signed a contract with them until the end of the season with the option of an extension."

So how many other Glasgow players have been on a "contract till the end of the season" over the past few years but have still managed to be playing rugby for another professional side half way through a season?

I'll let you all work it out...(that would be a good competition Gordon!)

Remember to include the infamous "signing" whom the SRU, funnily enough, DID release a media statement saying he had signed only to find out he was actually "unsigned" after the press statement and headed off to sign with a fellow Celtic League side in Wales.

A Glasgow Spokesman is quoted "Nothing has been settled" so in other words discussions are ongoing and it is probably only a matter ot time before Paul departs, and who can blame him!!

"Pau" Dearlove is Scottish qualified. Perhaps the allegiance to country has to be overlooked if financial considerations loom: i.e. his team is not winning, he is not in his team and the chances of improving his income by gaining a cap are disappearing.

In the professional era money comes first ... and second ... and third ... The "allegiance" argument just cloaks the pursuit of cash in a semi-transparent cloak of respectability. How many other "imports" have followed the same philosophy at the expense of the interests of domestic players? I'd mention names, but Gordon would probably become censoriously upset!

Returned home fairly quickly when an old injury flared up.

Interestingly Planet rugby website metions Pau signing Lovers, someones got to be putting the news out, if the French are this sure about it I'd tend to go with them after the transfer fiascos we've experienced previously!

McBride wasn't fully fit at the time he was called on to come over for cover in the Glasgow side. More precious cash wasted by the SRU in bringing him over in the first place, they knew he wasn't 100% fully fit before he set on the journey from Australia.

He seems to be doing pretty well for himself since heading back across the water. He's back playing with Eastern Suburbs in Australia and working his way up the Queensland Rugby's 2005 Energex Reds Rugby Scholarship Program.
