Stuart, a member of the National Rugby Academy (Glasgow), has been with the pro side for the past season on an apprentice contract but has been upgraded to a full time contract until the end of the 2006/07 season.
National Academy Coach (Glasgow) Stephen Gemmell said: "Stuart has really impressed everyone this season with his commitment and dedication since coming on board at Glasgow as an apprentice. In the early part of the season he was thrown in at the deep end having to play in both the Celtic League and Heineken Cup and this contract is just reward for his performances during these matches and his hard work."
Stuart, who is originally from Inverurie, has represented Scotland at all age group levels and was part of the Scotland U21 side who beat England in last year's shadow six nations tournament. He moved from Inverurie's Garioch rugby club to play for Aberdeen GSFP where he came to the attention of district and national age grade selectors. He was originally a member of the National Academy in Caledonia where he was supported by Grampian Institute of Sport before his move to Glasgow as an apprentice.
Stuart added: "It's been a really good year for me but this is just the start of everything. I know there's a lot of hard work ahead of me and I've had a lot of help along the way from friends and family and support from Town & County in Aberdeen. I'm really looking forward to continuing with Glasgow."
