Calcutta Cup heroes Chris Cusiter, Ross Ford and Scott MacLeod are included. With Gregor Tonwsend returning from injury, among the backs, only Calum MacRae, the inside centre, is yet to win a Scotland cap. Along with Opeta Palepoi and his fellow-Samoan Semo Sititi in the pack, the Reivers will present a formidable challenge for Glasgow.
The Warriors' Calcutta Cup players, Dan Parks and Andy Henderson, haven't been released as, unlike the Borders trio, they are expected to start against Ireland a week tomorrow. But after his team became the first Scottish side to beat Munster at Thomond Park in Limerick in their last outing, the Glasgow coach, Hugh Campbell, is confident his side can gain revenge for a defeat away to the Reivers on Hogmanay.
He said in The Scotsman: "It's great that they have a strong side coming through because there is a feelgood factor in the game after our win over Munster and Scotland's win at the weekend and we want that to continue. We'll have the Calcutta Cup at the game and lots of internationals, so hopefully we'll get a good crowd.
"There haven't been many great games of rugby between the Scottish sides because the players know each other so well, but we have tried to work hard in training at getting rid of the nitty-gritty elements and playing our more exciting game, which I know both teams want.
"I think we'll get a very tense and exciting game, and I'm confident because I know that we have a very, very good team. You don't beat the fourth-ranked team in Europe away unless you have quality players, and we have to take that same belief on to the pitch this week."
